Costa Adeje → La Caleta → Los Gigantes → Masca Viewpoints
A perfect first Tenerife drive. Start with the coastal road towards La Caleta, then continue north towards Alcalá and Los Gigantes. Recommended stops: La Caleta fishing village, Playa San Juan, the Los Gigantes cliffs viewpoint, and Santiago del Teide. Perfect for couples, photography and sunset views. Local tip: go later in the afternoon — the west coast sunsets are some of the best on the island.
Costa Adeje → Vilaflor → Mount Teide
This is the drive every visitor should do once. Leave the beaches behind and within an hour you move through traditional villages, pine forests and volcanic landscapes. Recommended stops: Vilaflor, the Teide viewpoints, and Roques de García. Local tip: take a jacket — many visitors leave Costa Adeje at 25°C and forget Teide can feel completely different.
Costa Adeje → El Médano → La Tejita
A different side of south Tenerife. Visit El Médano town, La Tejita beach and the Montaña Roja views. Perfect when you want somewhere less "resort style" than the Costa Adeje strip.
Local's Pick: La Caleta
Most visitors staying in Costa Adeje walk the promenade but stop before reaching one of the nicest parts. La Caleta is only a few minutes away but feels completely different — smaller, quieter and more traditional. Go late afternoon: walk by the ocean, enjoy sunset, and have dinner by the water. It's one of those places where having a car helps, because you're not restricted to the main tourist areas around the hotels.

- The main road is the TF-1 motorway, connecting Costa Adeje with Tenerife South Airport, Los Cristianos, Santa Cruz and the rest of the island.
- Don't judge distances by kilometres alone — mountain roads towards Teide or the villages take longer because of the curves and elevation changes.
- Hotel parking varies a lot. Larger resorts usually have parking, but areas near beaches such as Playa del Duque can get busy.
- For beach visits, mornings are usually easier for parking.
- Don't spend your whole holiday only between the hotel and the beach — some of Tenerife's best memories are made 30–60 minutes away by car.
- For Teide trips, start with a full tank before climbing into the mountains.
